This will become a real story once settlements have been reached. Will New York’s bill make what LA paid out, probably around 15 years ago ($660 million settlement, I think), look like chump change? Rockville Center recently offered $200 million. Cardinal O’Malley looks shrewder and shrewder for having settled quickly, 20 years ago, for around $100 million, given what his predecessors had done.
Perhaps he should be a shepherd of souls instead.

Friar stabbed in head while giving out breakfast in Dublin homeless centre
A Capuchin friar has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in the head while volunteering at the Capuchin Day Centre on Bowe St in Dublin earlier today.
The shocking attack on Friar Ademir Marques occurred shortly after 10.30 am in a hall where clients of the day centre were eating breakfast.
“We don’t really know what happened other than it was completely unprovoked,” a source told the Sunday World.
“Fr. Ademir would regularly volunteer here and is one of the nicest kindest people you could ever hope to meet.
“He was helping out with the breakfast when a client suddenly got up and stabbed him in the back of the head.”

Sr Becquart: Inventing "Deaconesses" Could Be Left to Bishops' Conferences

Sister Nathalie Becquart, undersecretary of the former Synod of Bishops, told the German newspaper 'Die Tagespost' (25 April) that there is currently "no consensus" on the introduction of a diaconate for women.
But she thinks it would be "a possibility" to leave the diaconate of women to the individual bishops' conferences (sic).
There is already a diversity of [lay] ministries worldwide, she says: "The synod could emphasise this diversity by further decentralising it".
Sister Becquart believes that Francis cannot or will not make a decision at this time. He has therefore again delegated the issue of women deacons to a commission. At the same time, he is "definitely" open to the "question" of the diaconate for women, but will "take a different path".
Sister Becquart sees her leadership of the Ex-Synod as a consequence of a "decoupling leadership positions from priestly ordination".

on 04/26/24
25-year-old Lorenzo Colombo was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rome on Saturday, April 20, 2024, along with 11 others.
On Saturday, April 20, 2024, in St. Peter’s Basilica at 6:00 p.m., 25-year-old Lorenzo Colombo was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rome, the pope’s diocese. At the Mass celebrated by the outgoing Vicar of Rome, Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, 11 new priests were ordained for the diocese, the same number as in 2023 and 2022.
At 25 years old, Father Lorenzo is now the youngest priest in the Italian capital’s diocese and is serving as an assistant pastor at a church on the western outskirts of the city.
Born in 1998, he entered Rome’s minor seminary at 13 years old and then moved to the major seminary when he turned 18.
Aleteia spoke to him about how he discovered his vocation and what it is like to make a lasting decision at such a young age.

Liturgy of April 28th - V Sunday of Easter
Dear brothers and sisters, the more we become aware of the stupendous truths of our Catholic faith, the more our hearts fill with amazement. In particular the truth that we are reminded of on Sunday, April 28, that is the presence of Christ in us through his Holy Spirit which makes us the Temple of the Holy Trinity. God living in us as Father, Brother, source of that pure divine Energy who as a powerful Ally helps us in the war against evil and gives us Life in abundance!

Excerpt from “ Has Nobody Returned from Hell? ” by Abbot F. Chatel:
We must all fear hell.
The holy Pope Pius IX said one day to Cardinal Place: “ One of the first causes of all our current misfortunes is that we no longer preach about hell (Cf. Opinions of day on punishments beyond the grave, by Father Tournebize, SJ, in fine). » He also said to a priest who gave numerous missions in France: “ Preach a lot the great truths of salvation. Preach above all about hell... say very clearly, very loudly, the whole truth about hell. Nothing is more capable of making poor sinners think and bring them back to God (Cf. Mgr de Ségur: L'enfer; Paris, 1876, p. 138). »
The memory of eternal punishments is no less necessary for pious people and consecrated souls than for sinners, and the saints themselves frequently remembered them. Indeed: “There are coming days,” writes Saint Thérèse, “when those very people who have made an absolute gift of their will to God and who, rather than committing an …More

They find a completely new kind of life inside our organism
These objects are similar to viruses, but they do not have similarities with any other biological agent known so far.
This new kind of life has been dubbed an Obelisk because of the symmetrical rod-shaped structures that form its twisted stretches of RNA.

From Citizen Go regarding the WHO Pandemic Treaty:
Are you aware of the urgent turn of events regarding the UN’s Pandemic Treaty?
We're in the final stretch, and the stakes couldn't be higher.
A shocking move looks set to attack our basic freedoms, handing over way too much power to the World Health Organization to control how nations handle health crises and your personal health decisions.
This pivotal moment could redefine your liberties, impacting every facet of how you live, work, and make choices about your health and future.
The voices of millions of concerned people worldwide slowed them down, yet they're rallying, pushing to seal this dirty deal by the 27th of May.
They're desperate, willing even to settle for a diluted treaty, just to claim a 'win.' But this 'win' for them is a loss for us, stripping away layers of your freedom, inch by inch. They're convening yet again, in an extra meeting, starting next Monday, April 29, born out of their panic, to patch …More
