@V.R.S. The Tamud is only a Rabbinic commentary on the Bible. It is not considered a Sacred text but opinions of Rabbis through the centuries on interpretation and application of Judaism. Jews follow and the Torah, and are free to agree or disagree with the opinions in the Talmud. I agree, though, that Judaism is fragmented with many different groups with contradictory beliefs. In the letters of St. Bernard Clairvaux a Doctor of the Church to the king of Southern Germany, he writes in response to the People's (Peasant) Crusade that killed hundreds of Jews in Germany on their way to the Holy Land. St. Bernard condemns the murders, and says that the Jews being people of the Old Testament are not to be killed, harassed, or driven out but protected in Christian lands. Moreover, he says we pray for their conversion and well being as we see according to scripture they are part of God's Providencial design in the Book of Revelation (The Apocalypse) and will convert in mass upon Christ's return. Until that time we should look after them.

In above quote, St. Bernard is not advocating to do this to the Jews, but saying that the Jews had suffered this b/c of their sins. He says similar things about the failures of the Crusades and Crusaders, that they suffered defeat b/c of their sins, and one of the sins for the German Crusade and People's Crusade was the Rhineland Massacres of Jews.

Lastly, even though some popes ordered the Talmud to be burned, they didn't change their response to the Jewish people. They did not order the Jews to be hated or mistreated, persecuted or driven out but were to be protected and maintained, which was consistent with previous popes and Church Fathers on the treatment of Jews in Christendom.

Some Jews ignore, some Germans did not kill the Jews during WWII.
However, Talmud has been the religious rule of the Jews just like the Jews (i.e. their legitimate authorities) killed Christ and the Germans organised death camps for poor victims.

The Catholic Catechism does not work like Talmud by addition of new rabbinical traditions i.e. the Catholic traditional doctrine cannot be changed. The rule: lex posterior derogat priori also does not apply.
In particular, the traditional doctrine cannot be changed on the basis of lavender musings in JPII Catechism or in Bergoglio's scandalous activities. The Catholic teaching on the death penalty is well established and we do not have to refer to Summa of Aquinas.

Yes, of course but they issued many orders to protect Christendom and Christians from the Jews and judaising. Cf. IV Lateran Council for example.

It is not mine (solution). It is the Catholic Church solution for centuries: pray for the Jews, try to convert them, hope for their en masse conversion before the end of time but in the meantime - defend the Church and Christendom against their hostile attempts.
