An unusual controversy has erupted in the Church in Angola after an anonymous letter sent to the Apostolic Nunciature in Luanda called for the next bishop of Mbanza Kongo to be white, reports the Substack.com-account The Pillar (August 7). The authors argue that the historic diocese has not developed sufficiently under its three Angolan bishops, while insisting the request is not racially motivated. The Diocese of Mbanza Kongo has rejected the suggestion that the letter represents its faithful. Angolan Catholic commentator Paulo Viana believes the dispute may actually be about dissatisfaction with Bishop Vicente Carlos Kiaziku, whose health problems have kept him away for extended periods, and the battle over his eventual successor. Viana suggests the letter could be intended to derail the possible appointment of Bishop António Lungieki Bengui, auxiliary bishop of Luanda. The controversy is especially striking in Mbanza Kongo, the cradle of Christianity in Angola and home of Henrique of …കൂടുതൽ
The Prophetic Vision of Pope Pius X. In this video we share The Prophetic Vision of Pope Pius X. Saint Pius X can be considered a hero in the fight against modernism. Thus, his fight is relevant to our days since modernism is a remote version of progressivism. A complete description of progressivism can be found in the prophetic documents of Saint Pius X against modernism. Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto, who became Pope Pius X on August 4, 1903 died on August 20, 1914. Pius X is known for vigorously opposing modernist interpretations of Catholic doctrine, promoting liturgical reforms and orthodox theology. He was beatified on February 17, 1952 by Pope Pius XII and canonised on May 29, 1954. During an audience for the general chapter of the Franciscan order in 1909, the Pontiff appeared to enter a trance. Those present remained motionless and silent. After a few moments, Pius opened his eyes, rose from his seat, and cried, "What I have seen is terrifying! Will I be the one, or will it be a …കൂടുതൽ

Twenty-two previously undisclosed letters by members of the former Loyola Community in Slovenia have been included in the Vatican's ongoing canonical criminal trial, according to OSVNews.com (August 6). The letters were written during Easter 2000 after the community's superior, Sister Ivanka Hosta, asked the 40 sisters to write directly to Rupnik about their relationship with him as part of the Jubilee Year. The sisters were instructed to describe what had happened and to offer forgiveness in a process of reconciliation. Twenty-two of the letters describe psychological, spiritual or sexual abuse. The letters are held in the archives of the Loyola Community, now in the custody of the Archdiocese of Ljubljana. Their full contents have not been made public. According to OSVNews, the letters describe alleged manipulation, coercion, abuse of authority, and physical and sexual assaults. [Saint Catherine of Genoa – XV-XVI Century AD; born: Genoa, Republic of Genoa/ died: Genoa, Republic of Genoa; Aged 62-63; mystic, known for her work among the sick and the poor] ST. JOSEPH'S INTERCESSION FOR THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED. St. Francis de Sales says: ** We do not often enough remember our dead, our faithful departed." Thus the Church, Uke a good »"mother, recalls to us the thought of the dead when we have forgotten them, and therefore she consecrates the month of November to the memory of the dead. This pious and salutary practice of praying for an entire month for the dead takes its rise from the earliest ages of the Church. The custom of mourning thirty days for the dead existed amongst the Jews. The practice of saying thirty Masses on thirty consecutive days was established by St. Gregory, and Innocent XI enriched it with indulgences. " that a devotion to the death of St. Joseph obtains many graces for those who are agonizing, and that, as St. Joseph did not at once pass into heaven—because Jesus Christ had not opened its gates—but descended into Limbo, it is a most useful devotion for the agonizing, and for the souls in Purgatory, to offer to God the resignation of St. Joseph when he was dying and about to leave Jesus and Mary in this world, and to honor the holy patience of this great Saint waiting calmly in Limbo until Easter-day, when Jesus Christ, risen and glorious, released him."
On 4 August, Peruvian essayist Santiago Roncagliolo, in a lengthy interview with Daniel Titinger, described Leo XIV's behind-the-scenes methods as Bishop Robert Prevost of Chiclayo, Peru. According to Roncagliolo, Prevost quietly built coalitions, divided opponents, managed information, and preferred discreet political action to public confrontation. Roncagliolo is broadly sympathetic to Leo XIV. "As a character to narrate he was a nightmare. He has no phrases, no scenes, no gestures. You ask the sources: 'What did Prevost say at that dramatic and crucial moment?' 'Nothing, I think'.'" Weakening Opus Dei from Within Interviewer Titinger described Prevost as "a Trojan horse": "He understands the adversary, doesn't confront him openly, but disables him from within. He's always quiet; that's why he wasn't well known." Roncagliolo does not reject the characterization and discusses Prevost in those terms. He also explains how Prevost weakened Opus Dei: "Prevost divided Opus Dei. He offered …കൂടുതൽ

Spanish Bishops Divided over Immigrants in Ceuta: Archbishop Luis Argüello of Valladolid, president of the Spanish bishops’ conference, called the surge “an invasion,” contrasting with the local diocese’s humanitarian response. Argüello said the influx was part of a broader political strategy, arguing that migrants were being used in struggles for “money and power” and that “demographics are a weapon.”

The church Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel in Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, Caribbean, France, has suffered around 10 break-ins in four months, according to French public broadcaster Guadeloupe La 1ère. Since late March, intruders have repeatedly entered the 17th-century church, leaving smashed stained-glass windows, broken donation boxes, damaged crosses, overturned furnishings, and other vandalism. Rev. Jules Ahouandjinou called the attacks "a profanation that does not bear its name". Despite police complaints, surveillance cameras, and forensic evidence, the break-ins have continued. Founded by the Jesuits in the 17th century, it is one of Guadeloupe's oldest Catholic churches, a protected French Historic Monument, and a major Marian pilgrimage site. #newsBpbibcdgsw

Bishop Strickland about modernism within the Church of Leo XIV My dear friends in Christ, Thank you for joining me today. There are some words that once occupied a central place in the life of the Catholic Church but are now seldom heard, and I want to talk about one of those words today. The word is “modernism.” Ask the average Catholic today what modernism is, and many will not know how to answer. Ask when they last heard a sermon about it, and many would say, “Never.” Yet there was a time when the Church regarded modernism as such a grave danger that Pope St. Pius X devoted an entire encyclical to exposing it. In 1907, in Pascendi Dominici Gregis, he called modernism “the synthesis of all heresies.” Those are extraordinary words. Popes do not use language like that lightly. If St. Pius X believed modernism was the synthesis of all heresies, then a question naturally follows: What happened? Did modernism simply disappear? Or have we reached a point where the Church’s own warnings …കൂടുതൽ
